1st Bday Party!

Well January 16, 2009 marks Kade's 1st B-day! We had a party at our house the Friday night of his B-day. We had a "CARS" the movie theme. Chad always calls Kade...Kader Tomater, and the tow truck on this cartoon is named "Tow-Mater". So we thought it fit pretty good for our "Mater".

Kade's 1st Bday cake-was actually made of all cupcakes!
Grandma Nancy and Jim came ALL the way from Beulah Friday night even though they had to leave Saturday morning. It really meant a lot to us that they could make this special occassion.
Daycare actually made him that birthday crown and gave him a 1st Bday balloon. They even had a special treat and all the babies were in a cirlce eating whipped cream with sprinkles when I got there to pick him up.
Uncle Shawn (now also the "Godfather") came from Grand Forks to help celebrate too! Kade loves to wrestle around with Shawn and they make pretty good "buds"!
Also Kade had a couple of friends over! Isaac came with his mommy and daddy, Amanda & Devin and Sarah and Justin Okeson brought Kale over to get in on the fun! I tried to get a picture of all three boys. Ummmm, that is harder than one would suspect~This was our best shot of the little hooligans--ggrr!
Isaac was too little, but the other two had a blast playing in Kade's ball pit. It is an oversized blow up dog with a pile of colored balls to play in(I really tried to use caution when typing that sentence!) When we were buying it, I yelled "here is the big dog with the balls" in Toys R Us.
Kade also got to open presents and got a bunch of cool stuff. Thank goodness Kale was there to help. Kade is not so much of a expert in the unwrapping department, but Kale was an awesome helper!Aaaw! They each had a push toy and were "crusing" around.Kade also got some birthday money from Aunt Doris and had to make his "investment in the bank". He took more of a karate style approach making his deposit. It seemed that he was having second thoughts and may have wanted to spend it. I can only guess how much money is in that thing! He has made many deposits from his gifts, so he is being smart and sacking it away...especially during this economy :-)
HiiiiYA! You are going down PIGGY
I do not want to make my deposit, I want to buy toysAha, success...I am just imagining my next purchase of a shiny new fire truck!Ok, fine...I will make my deposit, but I will be back to figure out how to get inside of you!

Well its late so stay tuned for Kade's first Bday Cake attack and his 1 year checkup!

Many Milestones Achieved!

Time has gone by soooo fast and I haven't kept up the blog like I wanted to. *SORRY* School has kept me hopping as well as running around after a fully mobile toddler! People told me how fast time goes but I CANNOT believe how fast it truely does go. Kade is no longer just "crusing" along furniture, he runs around the house independently and has gotten daddy to baby proof the whole entire house. I'm not kidding either, we are sometimes referred to as "DisneyLand" as every room is filled with toys and all breakables are stored away.

Here are a couple pics of him ruling the kitchen area. This outfit is a 24 month size, he is my BIG BOY that's for sure!
We have retired the baby carrier car seat and have a new rear facing car seat in each of the vehicles. I carried around my 'lil bugger as long as my arm could hold out and Kade has won that battle (darn my weak biceps!) Now I need a game plan on corralling him while I get my shoes and coat on and pack the car for daycare. I used to be able to just have him sit in his car seat and then latch the carrier in the car the very last. For now I try and keep him amused with the "BABY" in the mirror in the front entry way, while I finish getting my coat on etc..now he just wants to go DOWN the stairs--yikes.

Here he is in his new big boy coat and monkey hat. He will leave his hat on only if his coat is on. The minute we take off the coat, the hat is off-ha!
Eating --now this is an interesting event at our house these days! We are trying to get him off the Gerber baby foods and onto the table food we eat. Also we are weaning off bottles and using sippy cups. I'd have to say it is going pretty good, but holy smokes is it a messy and drawn out affair! Most food comes back out of the mouth, smashed on the high chair, and flung in a wild fury out to God knows where. I clean the floor about 7 times a day and find chunks of vegies and cheese in some interesting places when I least expect it. Now why did I complain about breasfeeding again???
Who Me? Nope... I'm perplexed! I think Hunter put that smooshed food on the wall!Emptying cupboards is what Kade lives for. The minute Chad and I start cooking (or even when we are no where near the kitchen). Out comes all the tupperware, then he goes over to the towel drawer and flings all the contents around the kitchen, THEN off to the chip/bread drawer which he removes random items and has already sat on my new loaf of bread. I will find towels with the chips and tupperware in the towels. So after I'm done cleaning smashed babyfood off the floor and walls, I get to follow him around and put back all the contents of these drawer. He also loves to pull out all his blankets from his bedroom drawers and lets not forget the pants drawer. We had to go out and buy a new garbage can for the kitchen that has a lock (yes they do make them) I'd find him either putting tupperware in it or dragging items OUT of it--Yuckie!
BUSTED!
FIRST WORD Kade's first word is BABY! He loves to see babies and gives them big open mouth kisses. He loves to see Isaac but sometimes gets too excited and we need to watch him closely as he thinks the baby wants to be struck in the face and tummy with the excited appendages
of a 1 year old. Nope Sorry Sweetie! Here he is giving "kisses" to Isaac. So mommy is on her pitty pot and is so sad that her baby is no longer a baby. I just want to cry out loud when I walk by all the cute Carter clothes in the mall that only fit up to 12 months. We've had the most precious year we will ever experience and I want to savor every moment of it. At the same time I'm so excited to see my baby become a big boy and I'm already planning our BIG BOY events for when I get my butt out of school. Next fall I think I will sign him up for Kinder Music, which is one night/week music & dancing class for babies. Kade loves to "get down" to the beat of the music...It is HILARIOUS! For now I leave you with one of my precious moments I will forever miss...

Christmas Album 2008

My first Christmas was picture perfect! We had beautiful white snow, friends and family, and everyone has their health!
Here is my first Xmas tree, my mommy & daddy let me get pretty close to get a feel of the prickly branches.
I got to taste candy canes. But then mommy got this scared look on her face like I was going to bite off a piece and choke, so she only let me take a little lick and then would take it back REAL fast. Plus she did not like that it changed my lips colors really fast. Sometimes she is not so fun.

I tried my luck at "opening presents" for the first time and thought it was pretty fun. Most of the time, I'd make people open the presents for me...I'm pretty smart that way-ha! I got so many fun toys and awesome clothes, THANK YOU to everyone who came to see me and brought me wonderful gifts.

Here are some of the neat toys I got. I got a big barnyard puzzle...
A REALLY fun Choo choo train...
Some blocks that go into a container...
A HORSEY!!!...
A Kitchen that has a sink and a stove, I can also turn on a light and it sings...I got soooo many more toys that I can't even list them all! Everyone was sooo generous, thanks again!!!

I loved seeing my Grandma/Grandpa from Montana too. Here I am giving some love to Grandma Fischer...Also my Uncle Shawn came and brought his girlfriend Jackie. She is really COOL and we can't wait for her to move to Grand Forks at the end of this January! They make a pretty cute couple don't they????

What a wonderful 1st Christmas. I am so grateful everyone came from as far as they did to spend it with me!

Christmas Dinner

We had a real yummy Christmas feast. Mom & dad typically do not cook big dinners so I was pretty nervous for them! We had Grandma & Grandpa Fischer (from Montana), Grandma Nancy & Grandpa Jim (from Bismarck), and Uncle Shawn (from Grand Forks) over.

Here is what it typcially looks like when dinner is cooking...my daddy does the cooking
and I run around the house and chase mommy down. I like to hold her legs real tight so she doesn't get away. Now for Xmas dinner??? That's right, I held on just as tight.
My dad was glad there were others to help him, since I hold mommy hostage. Here is daddy and Grandma from Montana (Penny) making the turkey really early in the morning...
Well it all turned out wonderful and my favorite part was the Pumpkin Pie with cool whip-yummy!!!
