Why We are Late for Daycare

Doot da doo da doo...I'm innocently getting ready to put Kade in his car seat and the little devil just tempts me w/cute pictures to take before getting in the car. #1 he hasn't puked on himself yet...#2 he is in a good mood and has just eaten...#3 he's so cut I can't stand to walk by and not "capture the moment."

Psssst...hey lady, I'm very serious...I'm ready to do some blog worthy photos, get the camera..
How's this? Ok..I've got my smile warming up...

Ta Da! I even have my toes to make it worth the shot!

Uh oh, now we're late...I'm scared!

Dish towel~Tug O War

Kade and I had a dish towel tug of war the other day. This made him happier than any toy we've ever bought for him.
Mmm, Mom...I don't think I like tug of war
Ok, Maybe a little bit, I am intrigued so will give it a try...
Wow!! It is soooo fun!
I'm TOO ExciTed to SLEEP!!!

Week 22

Here are some misc. pics of week 22.
Kade ate peas!

Dad made this nice shade for Kade on the boat. We have a shade ordered but it is on backorder so Chad made this make shift protection until it comes it. Worked like a charm!

Where is my Good Sleeper?

Typically our evenings consist of bath time @ 7:30, bottle @ 8:00 and he falls asleep immediately after burping. That seems to be changing as of Thursday night. Chad went out to check on Kade in the middle of the night and found him on his tummy. Normally, Kade falls asleep on his back and stays the same way all night. I have a positioner I use to make him feel cozy and it helps him to stay in one spot. Well not anymore, Kade had turned over and ended up on him tummy (still in the positioner which I can't figure out).
So last night, I went to put him night night and he immediately turned over on his tummy and "swam" his way around the crib looking at his bumpers w/horses, cows, barns, and tractors on it. Then he gets mad because he can't turn over on his back and is not used to sleeping on his tummy. So we turned him back over (just kept rolling over again), tried rocking him to sleep, tried holding down his legs for a while thinking he may just fall asleep before he can roll over...nothing worked. So he spent his first night in bed w/mom & dad.
More like w/mom though. He started off in the middle of the bed towards the top so he wouldn't get his face in the covers. Well he continually worked his way over to mom and I had to sleep in some weird positions. I woke up w/ a terrible backache and dad was all sunshiney telling Kade what a good job he did sleeping in the bed. GGGGRRRRR!
So we'll see how things go down the road but I have a feeling our days of him going to bed immediatly are numbered and we may have some challenges ahead of us.

Big Boy High Chair

We finally went to Target and bought Kade his big boy high chair. As you can see in the pics, it is covered in frogs. Now what kid won't eat when he is surrounded by frogs? This purchase made me think back to the very beginning when feeding Kade meant doing the whole breast feeding thing. Wow, have we made progress. Technically, we should still be doing that but I'm loving the bottle and cereal stage!
I alway imagined breastfeeding to be this natural, beautiful process of feeding my newborn. Um...nope, the first 11 weeks or so of feeding Kade consisted of a painful, toe curling, loss of breath painful experience about every hour & 1/2 (if he gave me that long). That stinker was more powerful than a hoover vaccuum! Then the best (ok worst) part was getting up 2 or 3 times in the middle of the night. I'd have to put on my little breastfeeding pillow that attached around my waist to get Kade positioned high enough. He'd scream bloody murder until I got set up and then I had to unattach those nasty looking nursing bras and freeze my tootsies off. Then he'd eat for an hour or more! I sat in that rocking chair just about 24/7 feeding that little boobie leach.
Nowdays, I get up about once (maybe twice) a night and shake up a bottle that I've premade in his bedroom. A shake, shake, shake and he sucks down anywhere from 5-7 ounces of formula a night and takes about 10-15 minutes. (Chew on those nipples as much as you want-ha!) I do not have to disrobe and freeze to death and I skip merrily back to my bed for some much needed slumber.
I love to see him eat his cereal like a big boy. So far we've only tried rice cereal and squash. He laps it up pretty good. The only problem is if he is really hungry he won't eat it and he will cry because he wants the instant satisfaction of his bottle and not to take one bite at a time. Tomorrow we try peas, hmmmm...not sure how that will go. Oh also we bought a sippy cup tonight and will let him start experimenting with it. I will just start with a tad bit of water and see if he takes to it.

5 Months Old!

June 16th marked Kade's 5 month b-day! I will be so sad when he actually turns 1 and we don't go by how many weeks old he is any more. He is already a big boy and has had a couple outings on the lake.
This last weekend we met Amanda & Devin on the lake. It is about a 30 minute drive or so to Pelican Lake in MN. We took our boat and they took theirs as they had Devin's sister Melanie and brother in law, Will from Beulah with them. We ended up finding each other out on the lake and tied the boats together. We jibber jabbered for the afternoon and ended up racing back to shore as a nasty storm snuck up on us. Poor Kade was like a hot potato in my lap as we busted through the waves, hoping to beat the wind & rain while trailering the boat.
We are careful to keep shade on Kade at ALL times. I bring pedialite in addition to his milk so that he stays plenty hydrated. If the boat is pointed out of the shade, I will put a blankie on his little arms/legs (even though they have SPF 50 lotion on) so that he doesn't get any pink skin color. He is so good out there and just looks around and takes a cat nap here & there.

Here is a pic of mommy and Kade headed out for our big adventure!
We are so blessed with what a good little boy he is (please Lord, don't make me eat these words later!!!) Daycare comments on how content he is. He loves going to daycare and watching all the little kids and babies play. I think it is so good for him to be around all of that so he can learn from them and learn to be around other adults and kids. It is such a nice facility that he is at and and it is right in the middle of a gorgeous golf course. I think he will end up golfing actually, as I noticed older kids taking their golf clubs in with them. We are so excited for his future!

Week 21

Here are some miscellaneous pictures of our BIG BOY. I'm missing the days of him being itty bitty. Not to say he ever was itty bitty at almost 9lbs, but still I'm trying to enjoy every second of his scrumptious little babyness!

Grandma Nancy gave Kade this cute army/puppy short outfit. I take pictures of his outfits because he outgrows them so fast~
Kade has found his feet and is getting close to putting them in his mouth-yuckie~
WEeeeeee! I love being a baby!!~

Awwww, a blast from the past...look at that hair on the top of his head. It has since grown really long (just the one patch of it) and he now has some peach fuzz on the rest of his head~

Yummies in my Tummies!

Kade ate 1 whole tablespoon of rice cereal for Chad tonight. I caught some pics as Kade chowed down (still working on getting the video downloaded..gggrrrr Plus we need to go buy a high chair, I don't think his swing will cut it for long.
Ummm, not sure I'm liking this dad~
Here let me help you with that spoon~
That's better dad, now just put your hand like this~
Aaaahhh, Yummies in my Tummies!~

I hate Electronics!!

I have some really good footage of Kade on video, but I'm having technical difficulties getting the uploaded!
Last week Kade started eating rice cereal and I have Day 1 and Day 3 caught on tape. The first day you would have thought I was feeding him biting army ants. It barely touched his lip and his head turned away instantly. Then at the end he cried and spit up. Not quite the picture of success I had hoped for. By day 3, he ate a whole teaspoon and seemed to enjoy it. I put him in his bumbo chair and he seemed a bit more comfortable.
Yesterday I got smart and fed him in his swing (no footage, waaa). He was most comfortable there as he didn't have to hold up his upper body. He ate 2 tsp and did well. The consistency was almost like mashed potatoes. I offered him a drink after every couple of bites to ensure he was swallowing it and wouldn't choke.
We also have him playing in his exersaucer, one of him grabbing his feet, and one of him spitting...ya just a lot of spitting. I know you are excited to see that footage-ha! Also footage of Grandma Penny trying to take pictures of Kade rolling over but he's too fast (or is Grandma too slow??) Hopefully I'll get this uploaded but no such luck yet.

Bloopers

I tried to get the "perfect shot" multiple times of Kade's infancy. Um...ya, most of the time I found you can't get a newborn to cooperate. Here is what Kade decided to do for most of his photo ops:
I tried hard to get him in his cute bear outfits and they even had the bear paw feet. Nope, no cooperation here.

He liked to just scream around on these, I guess if my mom looked as scary as I did during maternity leave...I'd scream too:

Week 19

Week 19 was really fun. Kade's Gramma from Montana came to visit on Sunday. We also got the video camera up and running and I'm so excited to post the footage. We are new to the videoing so be patient as we get better with shaky video and weird angles.

Kade will be starting a new daycare on Monday! We are excited to move him to Atonement Lutheran church. There are 2 older gals that will cuddle him and spoil him rotten! Kade and I went to his orientation last night and he schmoozed them real good-ha! At his old daycare there were over 20 babies in the room, now there will only be 8 of them. Hopefully that will cut down on the number of colds he gets. Right now he is battling a little cough and runny nose (nothing earthshattering).

Kade has started screeching and squealing. It is fun to see him growing up, but momma is getting sad as reality sets in that he is only a 'baby' for so long.
